Citizen Potawatomi Nation’s Cultural Heritage Center exists to educate tribal members, the greater Native American community and other visitors about the historical and contemporary aspects of the tribe. The newly renovated galleries feature tribal history ranging from pre-contact history to present day. Tours are available for schools and groups. Admission is free. The Cultural Heritage Center also features the "Long Room" which houses special exhibits and is available for meetings and events. Outside the facility, visitors will find the Bourbannais’ Cabin, built by original Potawatomi settlers. It was the first home built in “Shawneetown” prior to the land run. The Cultural Heritage Center also houses the Potawatomi gift shop which features authentic, locally made Native American gifts.
